Young Adults Take Next Step in Mission

By Adiv Frazier, October 16, 2026

Young Adult Summer Bash began at the Alaska Conference office in Anchorage on June 14, 2026, where participants set out on the seven-hour journey to Fairbanks. The weekend’s vision was simple: Encourage young adults to become mission-minded leaders deeply rooted in Christ and committed to serving his church.

Organizers originally intended to hold meetings and Sabbath services at Fairbanks Adventist Church. After arriving, however, they realized the large Airbnb where the group was staying offered a better and warmer setting for the type of worship, fellowship and honest conversations they intended to nurture. This change of plans became one of the weekend’s greatest blessings.

Friday evening began with a thought-provoking question: “What are the challenges facing the Adventist Church today?”

The question was intended not to criticize the church, but to encourage thoughtful conversation. Participants explored why they believe what they believe, wrestled with difficult questions and discussed how young adults can become part of the solution. The conversations inspired a deeper appreciation for the church and a renewed desire to serve as missionaries within it.

Throughout the weekend, the group worshipped, studied the Bible, spent time in fellowship and encouraged one another to live with purpose. By Sunday morning, participants were energized by what God could do through young people willing to answer his call.

One of the weekend’s greatest blessings was a growing desire to move beyond talking about mission and begin living it. The group discussed plans for a future mission trip and ways to continue building a strong community of young Adventist leaders across Alaska.

Organizers said the gathering was not a finish line, but the starting point of something greater. They thanked JD Miller, pastor and guest speaker, for sharing what God placed on his heart and expressed gratitude for the prayers, encouragement and support that made the weekend possible.

Plans are underway for 2027 events including January Winter Weekend and a mission trip to an Alaskan village. Supporters are asked to continue praying that God will guide the young adults, strengthen their faith and use them to make a lasting impact for His kingdom in Alaska and wherever He leads.
