Celebrating 70 years since its inception, Mission Possible 2026 at Camp Tukuskoya on Flat Lake north of Anchorage, Alaska, hosted a work bee June 24–29, 2026, with local and out-of-state volunteers coming together to support the camp.
Concentrating their energy on appropriate tasks, volunteers prepared the camp for another summer of adventures. Marc Guzik, Camp Tukuskoya board member, organized teams and assigned tasks. Dave Evans, Camp Tukuskoya manager, assisted with preparations.
After a 6:30 a.m. prayer session each morning with Martin Kim, from Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism, volunteers had breakfast prepared by Maryann Guzik and Susan Lowe, Anchorage Northside Church members, before heading to their assigned tasks.
Lumber had been delivered, and Tristan Radcliffe, Hillside O’Malley Church member, kept the boardwalk completion team supplied as needed. Another crew set their heads together and tackled the boathouse foundation. A separate squad used chain saws to open the view of the surrounding lake and removed fallen and dead trees from the path of the boardwalk. Other teams — adults and children included — hauled tree debris.
Fred and Susie Fox, California volunteers with Maranatha Volunteers International, and Kristine Bunnell, Hillside O’Malley Church member, tackled the Three Bears Room on the second story of the lodge. Upon completion, the room was in pristine condition and ready for use. Children dressed in garbage bags to protect their clothing shared in the task of painting.
With days filled with work interspersed with prayer sessions and meals, everyone was ready for bedtime. The volunteers were seriously committed to the task, having contributed financially as individuals or family groups and spending time refurbishing Camp Tukuskoya.
Lest it appear that what took place was all work and no play, lake tours were enjoyed in the evenings, in addition to powerful prayer sessions while the children took turns swimming in the cold lake. Happy memories accompanied all participants on their way home.
Another Mission Possible was successfully completed for 2026, with both the volunteers and camp renewed and ready to glorify God through another summer of ministry.
