In December 2008, the Yacolt Community Church adopted a needy family for Christmas.
The church Christmas tree was adorned with paper Christmas tree ornaments containing the family's names and what they wanted for Christmas. Each church member picked one or two names and donated presents as well as food for Christmas dinner.
Because of snow, the presents and food were delivered to the family a little after Christmas using a four-wheel drive pickup.
