We have a responsibility to care for each other and ourselves. Let’s do what we can to be part of the solution rather than potentially endangering those around us.
In seeking to limit the potential impact of coronavirus (COVID-19), the North Pacific Union Conference (NPUC) administration has voted the following:
- All NPUC work-related staff travel is canceled until further notice.
- The NPUC office is closed to the public effective immediately until further notice.
- All NPUC-sponsored events and in-person meetings are canceled until further notice.
- All employees are required to work from home until further notice unless specifically requested to do otherwise.
We will review this protocol for the NPUC office and staff on a regular basis as new information becomes available.
The NPUC, in consultation with the leaders of the six NPUC conferences, is providing the following guidance for the churches and schools in our territories regarding the response to COVID-19.
We urge our churches and schools to follow health and safety guidelines being established by local, state and federal governments regarding public meetings and size limits on gatherings. Thank you for explicitly following the instructions of your local conferences during this health crisis.
During this challenging time, we encourage the use of technology where possible to provide virtual church community and ways for members to connect with each other. We’ve compiled a short list of resources for churches and members. In addition to free streaming options, we’ve provided a short list of churches offering online services.
The goal of these temporary changes is to provide a buffer of protection to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. In addition to the steps we’re taking at the NPUC, we encourage members to follow the safety guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and health care professionals.
Romans 13:10 says, “Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” Let’s remember to continue serving as God’s hands and feet in the midst of these uncertain times. God will guide us through by His strength and power. He has blessed and protected us in the past and we can to continue to trust in His leading going forward.
