Eight Pathfinder clubs participated in the conference-level of Pathfinder Bible Experience at the Pleasant Hill Church in Pleasant Hill, Ore. on Feb. 24, 2018. These clubs included teams from Fort Vancouver in southwest Washington and Oregon teams from Hillsboro, Newberg, Pleasant Valley, South Santiam, Valley View, Whipple Creek and the White City Samoans churches.
Ninety questions were asked over a period of about two hours, and three teams, all of which are from the Pleasant Valley Pathfinder Club in Happy Valley, Ore. — Team Ashpenaz, God’s Stars Forever and King’s Court — advanced by obtaining at least 90 percent of the total available points.
Pathfinder Bible Experience is an annual event in which teams from all over the country memorize certain books of the Bible. This year, the books selected were Daniel and Esther. The team that scores the highest sets the grading curve. For a team to advance to the next stage, they must score at least 90 percent of the points of that top team. Any team that scores between 80 percent and 89 percent of the top score earns a second-place finish. Teams that score less than 80 percent of the highest score earn a third place.
After teams arrived at the Pleasant Hill Church, Pathfinders got dressed in full Class A uniforms for the event. After team inspections and captains’ meetings, everyone was seated in the church sanctuary by 3 p.m. The three teams from Pleasant Valley led song service. After reciting the Pathfinder Pledge and Law, testing began. Questions were read by Dave McCoy, who is the pastor of the Pleasant Hill Church.
Those teams achieving a score of 90 percent or above were eligible to attend the union-level event held on March 10, in Boise, Idaho. A report of the North Pacific Union Conference results is available online at gleanernow.com.
