Women At The Well Singing For The Lord

When filled with the Holy Spirit singing for the Lord, telling heartwarming stories and bringing others into a closer relationship with God, one feels the presence of the Lord in a powerful way.

That experience happened to a group of women from the Coos Bay choir who had a marathon schedule of 30 hours giving concert after concert in one weekend throughout the Central Coast of Oregon. Women At The Well, a musical group whose ages cover a range of more than 50 years — from 19 to 77 years old — enjoys performing uplifting songs and giving concerts.

"We went to schools, churches and retirement homes from Coos Bay to Lincoln City sharing God's plan of salvation," says Helen Bradley.

Departing from Coos Bay On Friday, April 30, at 5 a.m., the women were scheduled to perform their first concert at 8:30 a.m. at the Lincoln City Adventist School followed by a second concert at 9:30 a.m.

Then they gave another concert at 12 p.m. at Ocean View Retirement. The next day the women were at the Newport Church at 9:30 a.m. and then at the Florence Church at 11 a.m., with a final concert at 2 p.m. at Shorewood Retirement as part of Florence's Women's Mission Outreach.

"Giving concert after concert is an experience unlike anything I have ever done," says Angel Trible.

"I understand now what it is like to live out of bags, drive for hours, push to get to a place on time and then sing after that," says Jenny Gumm.

"There is this tiredness that sets in, but when singing for the Lord, the Holy Spirirt guides and gives us peace and renewed energy," says Charity Landis.

"As we sing the words to songs, the Holy Spirit is doing its work in a powerful way drawing both listeners and singers into the presence of God," says Marcia Powers.

"We really enjoyed the concert by Women At The Well, says Carol McLeod, Lincoln City Adventist School principal. "It was a blessing for our elementary students, so we asked the group to stay and do a second concert for our high school students," says Cheryl Knight, administrative assistant.
