"Fabulous!" "A foretaste of heavenly beauty!" "What a great experience!" and similar remarks came during the week of Aug. 15–22, as 91 members of various Seventh-day Adventist congregations all across the country found themselves on board the Sapphire Princess cruising the great frontier of Alaska.
With evangelist Lyle Albrecht and his wife, Peggy, directing the group, excitement and anticipation ran high as they cruised the famous Inside Passage from Seattle, Wash., to Ketchikan, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Skagway, Alaska; Victoria, B.C.; then back to Seattle. Stops along the way provided time for excursions into the gold mining country, the ice fields with the many awesome glaciers, side trips for whale watching and, of course, a bit of shopping.
This was a great time for greeting old friends and making new ones. However, one of the main reasons for the trip was explained on Wednesday when Lyle presented the One-Day Church concept with DVD and support material provided by its sponsor, Maranatha International. This gave each one present an opportunity to support this much-needed worldwide endeavor any way they wished. The high point of the cruise came on Sabbath when the donations received for the One-Day Church project were announced. The final count came to $17,730. In addition, 10 of the members took DVDs and support material back with them to make a presentation concerning the increasingly popular One-Day Church concept to their home congregations.
"Praise God from whom all blessings flow." Many were saying what a wonderful experience it would be to do this again.
