Doug and Marilyn Pond have recently accepted an assignment to pastor the Ritzville Company. Pond, a native of Washington, was born in Walla Walla. Marilyn was born in Ocean Falls, British Columbia, Canada.
They met at Canadian Union College in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. After graduation they married and began teaching in schools around the globe, including Canada, Zaire (Congo) and Zimbabwe (Rhodesia). Marilyn also taught in Colville, Wash.
In 1989, their careers took a new path. "We answered the Lord's call to ministry. We have pastored churches in British Columbia, Idaho and Washington," said Pond. They currently pastor churches in Spirit Lake and Athol, Idaho, besides the Ritzville church.
The Ponds reside in Spokane, centrally located among their three church responsibilities, where they enjoy making music, walking, gardening, interior decorating, photography, woodworking and cooking. They have two married daughters and two grandchildren.
