Joel Tompkins Elected Washington Conference Vice President for Finance

The Washington Conference executive committee, after a nation-wide search, elected Joel Tompkins to be the new treasurer on March 8. Tompkins replaces Mark Remboldt who recently accepted a position at the North Pacific Union office.

Tompkins has served for the past five years as the Washington Conference associate treasurer and has considerable experience working for the Adventist Church throughout the North American Division. Tompkins is a graduate of Union College where he received a bachelor's degree. He is also a certified public accountant. He began his ministry with Adventist Health System/Eastern and Middle America where he served for five years. He then worked in the Kansas-Nebraska and Michigan conferences as associate treasurer for 12 years before moving to the Washington Conference.

Tompkins' wife, Kellie, is employed at Puget Sound Adventist Academy. They have two sons, Andrew, a freshman theology major at Andrews University, and Daniel, a senior at PSAA.

Tompkins says his goal for his ministry is to “manage funds to reach as many people for Jesus in western Washington as possible.”
