ROWLAND — May Adell (Mae Adell Stroud), 100; born March 1, 1918, Peace Health United General Hospital, Saint Paul, Minn.; died Nov. 22, 2018, Sedro-Woolley, Wash. Surviving: husband of 76 years, Ken; son and daughter-in-law, Gael and Geraldine Rowland, Sedro-Woolley; son-in-law, Bob Littlejohn; sisters-in-law, Ruth Gowing and Virgie Stroud, 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Greg and Wendy Littlejohn, Jennifer and Joe Bielas, Jeff and Sara Rowland, Jolene and Tim Seibly; 10 great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews.

May Adell Rowland was born Mae Adell Stroud on March 1, 1918 in Saint Paul Minnesota to parents George and Anna Stroud.

After graduating from Humboldt High School in Saint Paul, May moved with her family to settle in Bayview, Wash. She met her future husband, Ken Rowland, at the roller rink where she literally "fell" for him. They were married Sept, 24, 1942 and have lived in Sedro-Woolley since then.

May was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for 76 years. She served in many capacities. She loved and was devoted to God and her church family. May wanted the world to know of Jesus's love and to be ready in their hearts for His soon return.

May used her business college education in bookkeeping for local businesses including her husband's pole hauling business and for Truss Engineering, the company established with their son in 1978. She was educated at Mount Vernon Beauty School as well, then owned and operated Hair Country Salon.

May was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Kamb; brothers, Bill and Joe Stroud; and by her daughter, Sharon Littlejohn.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the physicians and other health care providers at Peace Health United General Hospital and also the caregivers who have recently helped her at home.

A memorial service was be held at the North Cascade Seventh-day Adventist Church in Burlington, Wash., on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at 3 p.m.
