Oregon Hosts Single Emphasis Day

Singles from all around Oregon and Washington spent a beautiful Sabbath day on May 19, 2018, at the Holden Center in Gladstone, Ore., where Karl Haffner, who serves as senior pastor of the Kettering Church in Ohio, was the guest speaker.

There were 75 singles who attended the event and many for the first time. Singles were able to interact throughout the day by planned activities, stories and a nature walk

“Created in Jesus to Do Good Works” was the theme for this year’s Single Emphasis Day. Haffner gave two talks, “Grape Expectation” and “Doing Good Works,” with lively illustrations and Bible stories to illustrate how we are created to do good works for God.

The singles appreciated Haffner and said his messages were impactful and left attendees feeling inspired and blessed.

One single participant said, “It felt so good to simply have interactions ranging from casual to profoundly heartfelt. We developed a sense of camaraderie in a very short time. Instead of wishing it would be over, during the closing prayer I found myself wishing there would have been one final opportunity to interact.”
