As a new school year begins, Auburn Adventist Academy is delighted to welcome both new and familiar faces to AAA’s faculty.
Deborah Turner (whose husband Walter joined the teaching staff last school year) is the new school registrar. With degrees in accounting and education and with experience as a principal and school treasurer, Turner brings to the table a wealth of experience and a passion for ministry.
“I want to make a difference in the lives of young people," Turner said, "and I am excited for the opportunity to share Christ with AAA’s young people and this community.”
Grace Gratias has a new role at AAA. Last school year she joined the team as the village dean. This year, her responsibilities will also include that of vice principal. Gratias, who has served as the parent council president and volunteered numerous hours to support school programs, has been a great asset to AAA.
When asked why she is excited to continue on at AAA, she said, “I really like working with the students, and I enjoy this age-group. I want to share my love of Jesus with them.”
Kevin Ramkissoon, a former AAA teacher (1999–2003), is returning to Auburn to teach American literature and history. Ramkissoon has a Master of Arts in teaching social studies. When asked what he was looking forward to at AAA, he said, “I’m most excited about teaching the literature class because I can do it from a historical point of view. I also enjoy the Northwest, and I’m looking forward to being a part of the team again.”
Troy Carle and Kristina Gabrys will be working as the new boys' and girls' taskforce deans. Carle just graduated from Pacific Union College with a degree in English. Gabrys has been attending Andrews University and is also majoring in English. Both are alumni of AAA.
Diana Heinrichs will be joining the team as a music instructor. She will be teaching piano, strings and harp. Moving from the Portland area, Heinrichs is looking forward to working with AAA’s young people. “I am excited about starting a new program and meeting new people.”
We are excited about the 2006–07 school year. Dedicated to providing excellent education, spiritual growth and memories to last a lifetime, the faculty and staff of AAA are eager to see what this school year will bring.
