A Quiet Honor Learning new things is what Adventurer clubs are all about. The Spokane Valley club undertook earning the challenging honor of sign language. Melodie DeVaney, a member of the Spokane Valley Church, is a sign language expert. Her son Christopher is deaf and assisted his mom in teaching the sign language honor to our club. He helped to motivate the kids by making chocolate chip cookies and passing them out to those who had learned the signs for the week. The kids were up to the challenge, and all the second- through fourth-graders earned their honor. The award requirements included signing a song and signing a Bible verse. We accomplished this by signing “Seek Ye First” for special music for the worship service.
