This year the women of the Kalispell (Mont.) Church decided to foster an educational fellowship circle that would also interest women in the community. Once a month, an informal, hands-on workshop is given by an “expert” from the church.
The first month featured vegetable sculpting, resulting in an edible bouquet of vegetable creations on sticks. Next, ladies were treated to a sumptuous array of homemade breads, in addition to a breadmaking demonstration and recipes to make the delicious edibles at home. Another month's topic was healthy picnic foods.
Feeling optimistic that spring was coming soon despite snows and freezing temperatures, May’s activity focused on herb gardening. A professional gardener employed by a local greenhouse described the herbs she had brought and gave tips on how to make them happy and prosperous at home. Attendees were even able to purchase plants with the hope of planting them outdoors before June.
While learning new skills, guests are treated to light refreshments in nicely decorated surroundings. The Kalispell women have found this to be a wonderful way to enjoy Christian fellowship, to learn and share hobbies, and to invite non-Adventist friends to feel comfortable in the church while meeting new people.
