Alaska Pathfinder Camporee 2003

Packing sleeping bags and uniforms, swimwear and Bibles, bug dope, but no flashlights, 65 Pathfinders and staff from Palmer and Anchorage took the short boat ride across Flat Lake to Camp Tukuskoya near Wasilla, Alaska, for Alaska Pathfinder Camporee 2003 in June.

Rick Silvestri, Carmichael Church (Sacramento, Calif.) youth pastor, provided the Pathfinders with inspirational campfire songs and messages. Activities included completion of the sand honor, teamwork to complete an obstacle course in record time, and the challenge to build a two-person boat from one 4x4 piece of plywood, a bag of balloons, four milk jugs and one life jacket.

Alaska Pathfinder clubs are busily raising funds to attend the North American Division Faith on Fire Camporee scheduled for August 2004 in Oshkosh, Wis.

Why no flashlights? In the Land of the Midnight Sun, they simply are not needed in June!
