STIRLING — James Heber, 99; born Aug. 14, 1921, Los Angeles, California; died Dec. 12, 2020, Olalla, Washington. Surviving: 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Dr. Betty Jean Stirling. He graduated from La Sierra University (1941) and Walla Walla University (1943). He served as copy editor at the Pacific Press and, after earning his Ph.D., he became an anthropology professor at Loma Linda and La Sierra universities.
