Ryan Kennedy and Megan Stewart set off together on two very important paths of life on Dec. 16, 2006, when they joined Jim Berglund, Valley View Church pastor in Grants Pass, Ore., in the baptismal pool, dedicating their lives to God.
Then, that evening, just after sunset, the sanctuary, lit by candles and decorated with flowers, lace and ribbon, was the perfect backdrop for two people to begin married life together.
The day was extra special in the parallel imaging of starting a new life together in Christ and marriage. The purity of the new Christian life and the purity of a new marriage entered into together, supporting each other in mind, body and spirit. To start their spiritual lives together is very similar to marriage. The commitment to love, cherish, support and forsake all others is the same thing God asks of us in our Christian walk.
Megan Stewart and Ryan Kennedy were baptized by Jim Berglund, Valley View Church pastor, on Sabbath, Dec. 16, 2006.
On the evening of the same Sabbath Ryan and Megan were baptized they became Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy.
