Located on Washington's coast, alongside Olympic National Park, is the Quinault Indian Reservation, one of five other coastal Native tribes.
This area features 23 miles of coastline, a rainforest and two villages — Teholah and Queets. Nestled among the tall conifer trees is the village of Queets with a population of 150 residents.
Adventist ministry took root there many years ago when Bible studies were offered and received. About 20 years ago, two Native sisters who were positive influencers among the villagers, with the support of Forks Adventist Church, saw the ministry grow.
As a previous denominational church group closed its work there, Adventists were invited to use the tribal church and parsonage. Monte Church, North Pacific Union Native ministries director at the time, signed a 99-year lease agreement with the tribe, $1 for the church and $1 for the parsonage.
Since then, several missionary couples have ministered there.
Now, there's an opening for a mission-minded, self-supporting person/couple, perhaps retired, to be of influence with a goal of making friends, forming a small group — perhaps giving Bible studies, health outreach or children’s ministry, and conducting Sabbath services — in the two villages, with encouraged backing by Forks Church.
