The National Junior Honor Society is one of many ways Olympia Christian School is growing young leaders. They recently inducted three new members.
Olympia Christian School has been a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society since 2015. NJHS was founded in 1928 with the purpose of creating enthusiasm and scholarship by focusing on the four pillars of the organization: character, scholarship, leadership and service.
Olympia's induction ceremony was held Feb. 10, 2023 during chapel. Parents were invited to attend the ceremony. Students inducted this year were Angela Roco, Annin Lima and Carlos Herington.
Existing members are Jonathan Babbitt, Calvino Apaez, Alana English, Ashton Meija, Kelsie Crevison and Gracie Welch.
Each member is required to fulfill nine community service hours per quarter.
At OCS these hours consist of helping set up and take down chairs, platforms, sound equipment and more for school programs and weekly chapels.
Hours also include time involved in raising funds for the community project. This year, the community project partnered with Thurston County Animal Shelter. Past club projects have partnered with the Thurston County Food Bank, providing Christmas for a family and installing an additional water bottle filling station at OCS.
