Did you know one in five kids in central Oregon experiences food insecurity?
During this COVID-19 year of all things adjusted and socially distant, Three Sisters Adventist Christian School found a way to fill a need and make a difference in their community of Bend, Oregon.
Students and families collected bags of healthy nonperishable food items for the Bend Food Project to be distributed to food banks and nonprofit food pantries.
Students filled their bright green bags with food and returned to the school by the collection date.
Many students took on the responsibility of shopping and choosing healthy food options, keeping in mind kids who are in need.
On Fridays, students could bring in a nonperishable food item as a "ticket" to wear casual Friday attire rather than the school uniform. It was just one more way to make a difference and be a blessing to the community.
Students at TSACS are actively learning to "love thy neighbor" through activities that help their community.
