Mattson is New Washington Conference Education VP

Craig Mattson will be leaving his role for the past five years as principal of Northwest Christian School in Puyallup, Wash., to become Washington Conference vice president for education. He replaces Archie Harris who is returning to the classroom.

Mattson is no stranger to the Pacific Northwest or Washington Conference. In addition to his recent role in Puyallup, he is a graduate of Auburn Adventist Academy.

Mattson earned a Master of Arts in teaching from Andrews University in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science in behavioral sciences from Newbold College in 2003. He recently finished his term as board chair for the Washington Federation of Independent Schools, an official liaison for private schools. He also served a two-year term on the North Pacific Union Conference Board of Education. He has been a part of many school accreditation teams.

He and his wife, Lizzette, have two daughters: Emma is 8 years old and Nicole is 6 years old.

The Gleaner is a gathering place with news and inspiration for Seventh-day Adventist members and friends throughout the northwestern United States. It is an important communication channel for the North Pacific Union Conference — the regional church support headquarters for Adventist ministry throughout Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The original printed Gleaner was first published in 1906, and has since expanded to a full magazine with a monthly circulation of more than 40,000. Through its extended online and social media presence, the Gleaner also provides valuable content and connections for interested individuals around the world.
