Washington Conference Executive Committee Selects Maxwell as President

By Enoc Garcia, October 22, 2026

On Oct. 20, 2026, the Washington Conference executive committee voted to appoint Randy Maxwell as Washington Conference president.

The selection followed a prayerful process guided by the conference’s constitution and bylaws and coordinated with North Pacific Union. Pastors, teachers, principals, conference staff, church head elders, board of education members and executive committee members were invited to share the qualities and priorities they hoped to see in the next president and recommend names for consideration.

Throughout the process, a common desire emerged for a leader of prayer and integrity who listens well, is present in local churches and schools, and is committed to reaching western Washington with the gospel. Maxwell received strong support from every group surveyed, and the executive committee affirmed that support with its vote.

“We are grateful for every pastor, educator and church leader who prayed and shared their hopes for the future of Washington Conference,” said Erik VanDenburgh, NPUC vice president for administration, who led the search process.

Maxwell, who most recently served as Washington Conference vice president for administration, had stepped in to provide interim leadership for Washington Conference after Doug Bing’s transition to NPUC president. Maxwell holds a Master of Pastoral Ministry degree from Andrews University and brings decades of experience in pastoral ministry, publishing, communication and prayer ministries. An author of nine books, he has a deep passion for helping people experience the transforming power of prayer.

“I am humbled by the committee’s support and honored to serve my Lord and this great conference as its president,” said Maxwell after accepting the call. “God has blessed this conference to accomplish great things, and, by His grace, we will accomplish even greater things for the Kingdom as we continue to trust in Him.”

As Washington Conference begins this new chapter, we invite our NPUC family to join us in praying for Maxwell, his wife, Suzette, and their family.

Please join us in congratulating Randy Maxwell as we continue moving forward together in mission and sharing the hope of Jesus throughout western Washington and the Pacific Northwest!
