Mountain Home Family Dedicates Baby

By Byron Fesler, Byron Fesler, October 29, 2013

During the Feb. 9 Sabbath morning worship service at Mountain Home (Idaho) Church, Byron Fesler, head elder, held a baby dedication for Emmalyn Hazel Schneider, the 16-month-old daughter of members Mark and Shannon Schneider.

After reading God's plan for how a parent should raise up a child as mentioned in Deut. 6:5–9, Fesler requested and received from both Mark and Shannon the verbal commitment to raise Emmalyn in a God-honoring way. Fesler then requested the extended family to also make the same commitment to the raising of Emmalyn. Their influence on this small family also affects how Emmalyn sees God. Fesler then reminded the church family that it takes a village to raise a child to follow God. All present acknowledged this fact, and then Fesler asked God's guidance in raising Emmalyn to love God and live a life with God as the central figure.
