Aleida Quick, a teacher, loves to use puppets in her teaching. Two years ago, she helped the students make marionettes for the Christmas program. She has many animal puppets she uses for calendar time and story times. She wanted to expand her collection to Bible character puppets so she could take students to the local nursing home and other places in the area to share Bible stories. She got an e-mail from the company from which she had gotten most of her puppets in the past stating that due to a family illness, they were going out of business and all of the puppets were 25 percent off.
Quick ordered a few for herself. They came the next day. Sue Clark, the teacher's aide, saw them and was impressed she should send an e-mail to the church family and see if members could raise enough money to buy the rest of the puppets to complete the set of 15 Bible characters. The response was almost immediate.
Quick made the order and found she had gotten the last of several characters. The only one missing is the one for Jesus.
Students are excited and really enjoy working with the puppets. They are working on a skit called “The Invitation” based on Luke 14:12–20 written by a friend of Quick’s brother in the 1970s. Their premier presentation will be at a local nursing home around Thanksgiving.
“It was amazing to watch as God provided the funds for these puppets!” says Clark.
God will bless the students as they share Him with others through this ministry.
