"I felt like a queen," says Muriel Tooley, one of Kettle Falls church senior members after the evening meal and program on Jan. 30, honoring those born before 1935.
The oldest, Anne Davis, is 94 years old. Another couple honored was Dale and Pat Chambers, who have been married 55 years.
The young people of the church greeted the senior guests, hung their coats, pinned a rose on each person, and escorted them to their seats in the specially decorated fellowship hall. The youth prepared and served a spaghetti dinner, as well as provided the entire cleanup.
After the meal, the seniors enjoyed the reading of their brief biographical sketches alternated with musical selections.
At the end of the program, a church member said loudly, "This evening has been a little taste of heaven."
