Kings and Queens Come to Vale VBS

Nearly 60 children came to the Vale, Ore., Vacation Bible School held July 21–25. The theme "Castles and Crowns" centered on learning about the kings and queens of the Bible. All of the decorations, lessons, crafts and snacks supported the theme.

The leaders planned for 40 children, and that is exactly how many attended on the first day! A total of 55–60 attended all or part of the session, an exciting response from this small farm community. Only 15 of the children were from church families.

"The adults of the church really worked together to make this week a success," says Lillian Thompson, program coordinator.

This year, VBS volunteers made a DVD with pictures from the week, and showed it at the final parents' reception. The leaders plan to visit each family as a follow-up to the program and give them a personal copy of the DVD.
