Students Honored for Academic Achievement at Auburn Adventist Academy

Two Auburn Adventist Academy (AAA) seniors have been recognized recently by the National Merit Scholarship Program for outstanding academic accomplishment.

After first being named a semifinalist, Daniel Peterson of Olympia, Wash., has now advanced to finalist standing. Out of more than one million students who entered the 2006 National Merit Program, Peterson is one of 16,000 students to advance to this category. He has attended AAA all four years of high school and will graduate in June. Peterson plans on becoming a civil engineer and hopes to attend Walla Walla College next year.

Derek Woods has also been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. He received a letter of commendation for his performance in the preliminary SAT test. Woods, an Auburn, Wash., resident, is also a four-year senior at AAA. Next year he plans to continue his education by attending an Adventist university.
