MOPS

What is the most life-changing event in a woman's life? Having a child! Mothers of Preschoolers International (MOPS) understands this and strives to support mothers with young children.

Midtown Christian Fellowship and The Second Mile churches in Anchorage have formed a new chapter of MOPS International, which meets on the north side of town. We support working and stay-at-home moms by holding two-hour meetings on Sunday afternoon every other week. During these two-hour sessions, their children have a special class led by Sarah Fickett.

Moms enjoy “mommy time,” which includes scrumptious food, creative activities, networking, and support time with tips from our mentor mom, Colleen Crawford, and many guest presenters.

Some of the topics we have covered include women’s self defense, affordable holidays, creative discipline, budgeting, disaster planning, marriage tips, women’s health, journalizing and many more. Our theme this year is "Fruits of the Spirit."

We have done several fund raisers to make sure that this ministry is free to all moms. Attending moms say that they count the days until they can get this break. It makes them feel special, and the support they get helps them to be better moms.

Why do we do this? Because mothering matters! For more information, e-mail Pam Wallenfelsz at alaskamom@gci.net.
