Women Retreat to Camp Ida Haven

The Idaho Conference Christian Women's Retreat was held at beautiful Camp Ida Haven in McCall, Idaho, Sept. 5–7. Approximately 125 women enjoyed the nearly perfect weather, great food and fellowship, and the excellent messages by Rose Otis.

Otis spoke about finding inner peace in a troubled world, claiming the Holy Spirit's power through prayer and finding God's blessings in everyday life. Otis works with the General Conference women's ministries and has edited women's devotionals for a number of years.

Women from all over Idaho contributed to the event. Lois Moore of Caldwell gave the Sabbath morning devotional followed by a Saturday night vespers talk by Dottie Balkins of Boise. Jennifer Toews from Garden Valley shared her testimony on Sunday morning. Betty Britton from the Boise Adventist Book Center made available a selection of materials throughout the weekend. The retreat had a tremndous hit in a talent show by a number of Idaho women. Books were provided as prizes by Pacific Press.

The group had two mission projects this year; one to purchase song books and/or bibles for the Dominican Republic's Santa Domingo Mission, and the other for Cookie's Retreat in Spokane, Wash. The Dominican Republic project was inspired by the mission trip taken by Gem State Academy to Santa Domingo in March. Cookie's Retreat is a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
