The theme for the recent Upper Columbia Conference (UCC) Camp Meeting in College Place highlighted the miracle of spiritual growth. Both keynote speakers emphasized that spiritual improvement comes only as a result of a daily relationship with God.
Don Schneider, North American Division president, spoke at both the Friday evening meeting and the Sabbath worship service. He related fascinating stories that illustrated how knowing Jesus changes people's lives. On Sabbath afternoon, Schneider coordinated a mission program that spotlighted several creative ministries in the UCC as well as others around the world.
In previous years, seminars took place throughout the week while Sabbath afternoon was reserved for special programs in the College Church. Breaking with this tradition, a number of seminars were offered on Sabbath afternoon that attracted larger-than-expected crowds. Nearly 700 people rushed back from lunch to attend seminars on health, witnessing, the Bible and relationships.
Max Torkelsen II, the recently re-elected UCC president, spoke on Sabbath evening followed by a concert featuring recording artist Steve Darmody. As in previous years, pastors and volunteers provided excellent meetings for children and youth that made camp meeting a special experience for all ages.
