Eagle, Idaho, community and church leaders gathered on Sept. 11 at the Eagle Adventist church to remember the past and look for hope in the future.
The evening began with an earnest prayer for the nation by Pastor Royce Shoemate of Valley Baptist Church and a salute to the flag by the American Legion Post # 127 and Golden Eagle Pathfinders.
Then came several patriotic songs, led by Eagle Adventist Christian preschoolers and kindergarten/elementary students, as the congregation joined in.
Rick Yziguirre, Eagle mayor, spoke on hope in the City of Eagle, and Pastor Ed Weaver of the Eagle Nazarene Church delivered thoughts about hope for the homeland.
Pastors Dennis Parks and Chuck Ferguson of the Eagle Adventist Church then gave special plaques of recognition to the mayor, city council members, and Eagle’s fire and sheriff’s departments for their efforts in keeping the community safe.
The event closed with a prayer of dedication, delivered by an elder of the Hope Lutheran Church.
“The evening was an inspiring one that left us feeling that our God is in control and we can trust Him with our future,” reports Jodi Giem, Eagle Church communication secretary.
