Portland Adventist Academy Welcomes New Staff

Portland Adventist Academy (PAA) has welcomed three new teachers to its staff, all of whom bring a combination of experience and Christian commitment.

Joan Oksenholt, a fifth-generation teacher, has been the principal at Lincoln City Adventist Junior Academy for 15 years and on their board for much longer. She will now be teaching US History, English, and journalism classes at PAA.

She is married to Erling Oksenholt, a family practitioner and emergency room physician in Lincoln City. She has a married daughter, Kari, a social worker, and a son, Jon, a property developer. Joan is a graduate of Walla Walla College and George Fox University.

Wayne Culmore

Wayne Culmore has been the principal of both Columbia Adventist Academy and Auburn Adventist Academy and dean of men and pastor/chaplain in Adventist schools in both the United States and Canada. He will teach Bible classes at PAA.

Most recently, he served as vice president for Shared Healthcare Systems. His wife, Sylvia, is an administrative assistant. His son, James, is director of operations at Risk Management. His daughter, Julie, is director of marketing and corporate activities for Innovative Fitness.

Les Zollbrecht
