Radio Makes Waves in La Pine

By Jeff Coleman, October 14, 2019

Situated among towering pines and boasting year-round outdoor recreation, La Pine is a jewel of central Oregon. This little town of about 1,900 is just a hop way from the Newberry National Volcanic Monument and a skip away from the largest known living ponderosa pine, found in the local state park. In this town with a Wild West kind of feel, you will find a little church. Though their numbers are few, the local members are mighty prayer warriors with a vision to reach this little community for Jesus.

One of the ways they are doing this is by having Jeff Coleman, La Pine Church pastor, come each week to the chamber of commerce's local radio station. He and couple other pastors from other denominations and Deon Murray, La Pine Church member, spend an hour broadcasting Christian music and sharing from the Word encouragement to those listening, which is aired three times a week.

One may wonder if people really tune in and listen to this secular Newberry Mix station. — KNCP broadcasting at 107.3 FM. They absolutely do! The few times they have had technical difficulties the listeners have made it known they missed the station. One may never know the seeds being planted and the hope being instilled in people’s heart by Jesus’ love for them, so members will keep praying and planting those seeds.

Hey, next time you are driving down Highway 97 through La Pine, Ore., tune into KNCP and see if you can catch "Then Sings My Soul."
