Upper Columbia Conference announced this week that David Freedman has accepted a call to serve as the next vice president for finance. He will replace Randy Terry, who has begun a similar role for the Texas Conference.
Freedman has served as vice president for finance for the Oregon Conference in Gladstone, Ore., since 2011.
Paul Hoover, Upper Columbia Conference president, says, “I am so pleased God led us to Elder Freedman. David’s proven financial leadership and commitment to our mission is exceptional. I’m honored and grateful that David and his wife, Anne, have accepted this position and will be joining our conference family this summer.”
Freedman began his ministry for the Adventist Church in 1982 as a pastor for the New Jersey Conference and then the Nevada-Utah Conference through 1988. He transitioned to treasury work in the New Jersey Conference in 1988 as an accountant and assistant treasurer until 1991.
In 1991 Freedman accepted a call to the Alaska Conference where he served as secretary-treasurer until 1997. From 1997 to 2002 he was the vice president of finance for the Illinois Conference and then in a similar position from 2002 to 2011 for the Texaco Conference.
Dan Linrud, Oregon Conference president, says, "It has been a joy to serve with David Freedman. He has been a highly competent treasurer, a loyal team player, transparently communicative and mission-driven. The Freedmans will be greatly missed in the Oregon Conference. We wish them God's blessings in their journey."
Linrud solicits prayers for the conference as they seek a leadership replacement for Freedman, with a final decision to be made by the regular constituency session planned for Sept. 17.
Freedman’s wife, Ann, hopes to continue her emphasis as an Adventist elementary school teacher, once the transition is made to Spokane sometime this summer.
