CGCS Welcomes Spring With Style

The month of May was an exciting one for the students, friends and families of Cottage Grove Christian School (CGCS) in southern Oregon. The month started off with a family field trip to Wildlife Safari. The students were able to explore the village and have animal encounters with the tigers, cheetahs, lions, bears, giraffes and hippos. It was a great opportunity for the parents to get to spend the day with their students and interact with other parents as well.

A women's vespers and painting night on May 7 brought in just over $700 for the school. The worship service was led by two of the school parents: Carrie Miller and Lindsey Parsons. After worship, the women all enjoyed a soup-and-salad dinner before getting to work on their paintings.

The painting portion of the evening was taught by local artist Jamie Dompierre of Signed By Jamie. The attendees not only left with completed paintings but the opportunity to visit with friends from the community who attended the event as well.

May 12 brought a special Mother's Day Tea hosted for the women of the church and school by the students and some of the school board members. The students put a lot of time and preparation into handmade gifts for the attendees as well as a short music program.

May 15 brought the beginning of an eight-class session of swim lessons. The students had the opportunity to walk to the local pool and learn about water safety and important skills to make swimming a fun experience.

CGCS has been very blessed to have so many wonderful people who have made these memorable events happen. The school year wrapped up in June with a family picnic at a local park and a number of summer events are on the books for current and prospective students.
