Matthew Bediako, General Conference secretary, grew up in Ghana, West Africa, while Goldendale Church members Wes and Jackie Parker were missionaries there 40 years ago. Bediako has always had a special place in their hearts. The Parkers helped Bediako go to high school. He helped them with the care of their two children. He was especially close to their son, Ken, who is now a pastor in Bonney Lake, Wash. After high school, Bediako attended the Adventist college in Nigeria.
Bediako's first loves are evangelism and administration. He and his wife, Elizabeth, came to the states while he pursued graduate degrees at Loma Linda University School of Health and Andrews University.
The Parkers had looked forward to the Bediako's visit with great anticipation. Pastor Bediako had the church service in the Goldendale Church and answered many questions at an afternoon meeting.
