The number one goal of Puget Sound Adventist Academy (PSAA) is to build Christian faith and values into this Kirkland, Wash., day academy’s curriculum.
“Puget Sound Adventist Academy strives to offer each student a unique education that emphasizes close-knit relationships within the school family,” says Doug White, principal.
PSAA's 82 students have many opportunities to serve the Seattle-area communities and each other as Christian classmates. Each fall the entire student body and faculty participate in a three-day spiritual retreat offering time for worship and informal, out-of-class experiences that helps set the tone for the year.
During the school year, students and faculty are involved in outreach events such as serving food at the Seattle Union Gospel Mission, highway clean-up, planting trees and shrubs at local parks, writing letters at adult care homes, building fences at youth camps, and whatever other missions that present themselves.
Mission trips provide further opportunities to witness and build for Christ. PSAA students have traveled on mission trips to Mexico, India, Africa, Honduras and Costa Rica. The school is planning a building project in Fiji for the fall 2004.
Academic focus leads students to participate in a yearly Washington state history tour in the fall, and each spring the band and choir go on a music tour.
Located on the east side of Lake Washington, PSAA serves a commuting student body from Tacoma to Arlington, Wash. Since it became an academy in 1997, PSAA has graduated 150 students, many of whom went on to colleges throughout the world.
