Columbia Academy Introduces New Spanish Teacher

Katy Paise has joined the Columbia Adventist Academy staff, teaching Spanish I and II, English III, and yearbook.

As a student at Upper Columbia Academy, Katy took three years of Spanish and later studied one year at the Adventist College in Sagunto, Spain.

She graduated this year from Walla Walla College, with a major in elementary education and minors in Spanish and English.

During her college years, she served as a Taskforce dean for one year at Upper Columbia Academy and discovered she liked working with teens.

She also worked with teens in sales and as a group leader in Western Washington Youth Challenge literature distribution in Seattle, where she sometimes sold books written in Spanish.

In July, she married Larry Paise, a graduate of the University of Washington in prosthetics and orthotics. He is now taking a residency in orthotics in Salem, Ore.

Katy’s hobbies and interests are reading, being in nature, biking with Larry, and traveling—especially in Europe.

“I am really happy to be here….,” she says of her move to Columbia Adventist Academy. “I want my students to walk in God’s truth and become friends with Him in a lifetime relationship with their Creator. And yes, learn Spanish and English along the way.” •
