Cascade Christian Academy Active in Community

Students at Cascade Christian Academy, in Wenatchee, Wash., conducted their first quarterly Community Service Day of the new school year, Sept. 13.

Groups of five or six students, each with a student leader, planned, arranged for, and performed the work, accompanied by a teacher or parent.

Projects included walking dogs and cleaning cages at the Humane Society; cleaning the Wenatchee Free Methodist Church, at no charge; baking goods for the Cascade Christian Academy staff; and planning an afternoon of crafts and games with the kids at Cascade Christian Child Care.

Others visited the “Good Grief Center,” cleaned it inside and out, and helped file books and paperwork; served a lasagna meal to staff and firefighters at the Wenatchee Fire Station; gave the third-grade teacher a day off by supervising her students; painted a room at the low-income-housing Bruce Hotel; and gave free car washes and refreshments to motorists driving by the Academy. •
