Umapine Celebrates 25 Years

Fifty charter members planted a new Adventist Church in Umapine, Ore., in 1977, and on July 12 and 13, the now-90-member congregation celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The congregation serves the Umapine area in the Walla Walla Valley with weekly Sabbath school and church services, a vacation Bible school program (charter members, in fact, launched the church through successful vacation Bible school ministry in the 1970s), and an organized Pathfinder youth club.

Members recently remodeled their church building, and former members who attended Friday vespers and Sabbath services were impressed by their work.

The vespers program featured Ed and Pam Baumgartner, former Umapine members who accepted a call to mission service in Perú.

Marlo Fralick, who pastored the Milton/Umapine district from 1975-1983, presented the Sabbath message. •
