WEST — Melvin K., 89; born March 2, 1930, St. Paul, Minnesota; died Dec. 27, 2019, his residence in Portland, Oregon. Surviving: wife, Betty Ann (Nilsson); son, Larry West, Juneau, Alaska; Lynelle West Hatton, Vancouver, Washington; and 3 grandchildren, Kara, Kyle and Jayden.

Dr. Melvin K. West was a renowned Seventh-day Adventist music educator, church musician and concert organist who also played a key role in developing the current Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal. A biography is available on the International Adventist Musicians Association website.
