NICHOLSON — Michael "Mike" Thad, 76; born Nov. 30, 1939, Hermosa Beach, Calif., to Jack and Jean Nicholson; died peacefully surrounded by family on Aug. 6, 2016, at his home in Sandy, Ore. Surviving: wife, Sally (Baker); son and daughter-in-law, Michael Jr. and Julie Nicholson, Sandy; daughters and sons-in-law, Tami and Brad Hunter, and Shelly and Troy Brooks, all of Sandy; mother, Jean Nicholson, of Oregon; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mike attended both Portland Adventist Elementary and Portland Union Academy. He married the love of his life, Sally Baker. Mike was a retired building contractor. He constructed custom homes all over the greater Portland, Ore., area. He built local notable buildings such as Firwood Medical Center and the Sandy Post Office amoung many other. He was a former Sandy Volunteer Firefighter and he owned and ran the Sandy ambulance service for a time in the 1970s. He and Sally were two of the early state certificed Emergency Medical Technicians in the state of Oregon.

Mike was a Bible scholar, a lay minister, an elder for his church,and spoke for camp meetings and evangelistic series across the country and all over the world, even doing one in Tennessee, in May of this year.

His passions in life were his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, the great outdoors, (specifically hunting in the Steens with his son and grandkids), traveling all over the world with his wife and friends and of course, building and crafting custom things. "well done, thoe good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).
