WHEELER — Virginia L. (Leslie) Estes, 78; born Aug. 4, 1936, Startup, Wash.; died July 9, 2015, at home, Sioux County, Neb. Surviving: husband, Glenn H.; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Susan Wheeler, Sandpoint, Idaho; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Steve Chadbourne, Riverview, Fla.; Desiree Wheeler-Hissong and Britt Hissong, Jacksonville, Fla.; Rochelle Lain, Boise, Idaho; Marcella and Cyril Myers, South Bend, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Virginia was the valedictorian of her graduating class from Auburn Academy in 1954. She attended Walla Walla College for two years and then worked for lawyers in Monroe and Seattle, Wash., as a bookkeeper. She worked as the assistant business manager at Broadview Academy and the business manager at Wisconsin Academy and Enterprise Academy in addition to working for Elder H.M.S. Richards, Jr., at the Voice of Prophecy in California. After retiring to the family farm in Nebraska 23 years ago, Virginia worked as a teacher’s aid and substitute teacher at the Pink School House.

Quilting, knitting, gardening, reading, cooking and spending time with family were Virginia’s favorite pastimes.
