Adventist Health Holds Career Fair in Walla Walla

Adventist Health facilitated a career fair on July 6 in Walla Walla, Wash., which was attended by several hundred Walla Walla General Hospital (WWGH) employees. More than 20 employers were on hand to inform employees of local and regional job opportunities. Several employees had resumes prepared, while others took application information. The day's event seemed to indicate a large number of employment opportunities would result from fair.

Career transition support services were also offered to all WWGH staff. Employees are being coached and supported on how to best represent their skills through resume writing, interviewing, networking and other employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, many Adventist Health physicians have been engaged in conversation with Providence Health and Services, Walla Walla Clinic, and other local organizations regarding options for continued employment in the Walla Walla region. Decisions will hopefully be revealed soon. Physicians will be notifying patients as soon as their plans are confirmed.

Patients do not need to be concerned about obtaining medical records prior to July 24, as Adventist Health will retain medical records after the closure. However, patients who want a copy of their medical record to send to another provider prior to closure may fill out an authorization form on the Adventist Health website and return it by mail or in person to the hospital’s medical records office.

Several organizations have been inquiring about possibilities of acquiring WWGH’s facilities. Adventist Health is unable to comment on those conversations at this time.

A hospital transition team is in place to prepare for the July 24 closure. They are focused on ensuring patients continue to receive exceptional quality care until the hospital is officially closed. The multidisciplinary team is also addressing a host of details regarding patient notifications, health care services, supplies and processes. The transition team, in collaboration with local agencies, is helping ensure the community is aware of upcoming changes.

Effective the night of July 23rd, those requiring emergency care will be served locally by Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
