Churches Work Together to Teach Vegetarian Lifestyle

By David Patrick, Febrero 14, 2018

What if you could learn to add international flavors to your dinner plate? More than 60 people from the churches and community recently enjoyed learning to make vegetarian egg rolls and more types of Indonesian food with the Arlington and Everett (Wash.) Indonesian churches.

The Arlington Church has offered the Vegetarian Support Group (VSG) with lifestyle classes for several years.

The two churches partnered together to create a feast composed of some of the best recipes Indonesia has to offer. They wanted to be sure that everyone could sample as much of each dish as they wished and prepared up to 300 egg rolls, plus similarly generous quantities of 11 other dishes.

Dawn Hainey, head of the Arlington VSG, spoke and announced the activities. A member, Ignes Emor,  introduced the participants and the dishes they created.

Those who came expressed appreciation for the hours of work these cooks put into this evening — one event in an ongoing effort to share the health benefits and blessings of a vegetarian life style with the community.

The vegetarian cooking demonstration will become an annual event after the success of their community outreach. This coming year, the Arlington Church's schedule will include classes on diabetes and other current health challenges.
