WHITEHOUSE — Ivan John, 91; born June 2, 1922, Toledo, Wash.; died Dec. 20, 2013, Goldendale, Wash. Surviving: sons, Daniel, Warren, Ore.; Timothy, Edinburg, Texas; daughters, Kathleen Hudson, Goldendale; Carol Opitz, Gresham, Ore.; Jo McGuinness, Tigard, Ore.; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Graduated from Auburn Adventist Academy and then from Walla Walla College in 1949. Served in WWII as Army private on 251st Station Hospital in the Pacific Theater. Active in amateur radio as K7ATX, with many Bible study nets and contacting missionaries. He relayed messages in 1964 Alaska earthquake, and was involved with Good Samaritan Eye Bank. Was survived by his wife of 66 years for three months.
