Three Timberline Adventist Elementary School students were winners in the 11th-annual poster contest for the Fair Housing Council of Oregon. Cody Davis, third-grade student, received first prize and $75 in the first–third grade division. Dinah Thomas, fourth-grade student, won second place and $50 in the grades fourth–fifth division, and Fritz Heid, eighth-grade student, won first prize and $75 in the sixth–eighth grade division. In addition, all the school's students received certificates of participation. The school was pleased such a high percentage of its students were awarded prizes.
According to Nicole Edner, administrative project manager in Portland, Ore., "The contest this year was very competitive with over one hundred sixty entries." She relates, "The contest judges were impressed with the artistic quality and creativity of all our students' entries."
Prize-winning entries were selected on: originality, content, design, appeal, technique and craftsmanship. The judging panel was composed of individuals with backgrounds in art, education and/or fair housing. The theme for this year's contest was "From Dream to Reality; Fair Housing for Everyone."
Timberline is a multi-grade country church school near Vale, Ore., with an enrollment of five students. Teri Bonson, teacher's aid, teaches weekly art classes at the school.
