Small Group Ministry Training Is Ready for Launch

By NW Adventists Team, Enero 05, 2026

Healthy churches are made up of healthy groups just like a healthy body is made up of healthy cells.

Dan Serns, North Pacific Union church planting, revitalization and mobilization director, is hosting a 12-week virtual training session for successfully launching small group ministry. This training is intended for pastors, elders, local church leaders and members.

"I want to help your pastors, elders, and members start and lead groups," Serns said. "This will help people deal with loneliness, find their way to a deeper relationship with Jesus, build new friendships in community with others, and make good decisions for eternity."

Basic Information

  • 12 weeks, one hour per week, by Zoom.
  • Specific assignments will be made each week.
  • Participants must commit to regular Zoom attendance and carrying out assignments to continue in the group.
  • There is no cost for the training.

Two Training Times

  • Mondays at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. Begins Jan. 19, 2026.
  • Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. Begins Jan. 21, 2026.

A Zoom link will be sent by email a few days before the launch training begins.

You can learn to start and lead a group during this free 12 week zoom training and coaching session, based on Bible principles and years of experience. Sign up before the January 17 deadline while there is still room.

The Gleaner is a gathering place with news and inspiration for Seventh-day Adventist members and friends throughout the northwestern United States. It is an important communication channel for the North Pacific Union Conference — the regional church support headquarters for Adventist ministry throughout Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The original printed Gleaner was first published in 1906, and has since expanded to a full magazine with a monthly circulation of more than 40,000. Through its extended online and social media presence, the Gleaner also provides valuable content and connections for interested individuals around the world.
