Roy & Chris Price

PRICE — Roy and Christina (Lewis) Price celebrated 65 years of marriage on Sept. 11, 2021. They were married on Sept. 8, 1956 in Reno Nevada. They have 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

Roy and Chris' parents lived next door to each other when their babies were born two months apart. Roy says he first laid eyes on his bride when he was three months old! They played together often until WWII pulled their families in separate directions.  Back in Tulelake, they didn't begin dating until they were seniors in high school.  They were sitting on the seniors-only bench, and Chris remembers pulling his shoestrings and untying them. Roy laughs and said, "She's been pulling my strings ever since!" 

After high school, Chris completed Beauty School along with her aunt, while Roy began farming the family farm in Tulelake, which he did for 42 years. They married on September 8, 1956, and were blessed with four children, adding love, blessings and many challenges, which in hindsight has made them a stronger family.

The Price family lived primarily in the Tulelake/Klamath Falls area while the children were growing up. They were active in their local community and Klamath Falls SDA church. Roy started a roofing business in Klamath Falls in 1981. In 1984 they moved the roofing business to San Jose. Chris decided to change careers and earned her Medical Assistant degree in 1985 and began working for several physicians, which she continued to do for several years.  

After moving to the Portland/Vancouver area in 1991, Roy worked with their son, Bruce, doing general construction. He began working at Portland Adventist Medical Center in 2001 in the facilities department. Chris provided medical and educational office support. Roy and Chris officially/un-officially retired in 2007 and 2005, respectively (their children don’t think they have ever truly retired!). They remained very active with the Vancouver SDA church, managing build of the new church and helping to maintain it for many years.  Chris also served as the church secretary and both held various leadership roles in the church.

In 2010 they became snowbirds to Desert Hot Springs, CA  and have enjoyed many old and new friendships there. In 2020 they moved their summer home onto the property of Bruce and Teresa's house in Washington and continue to winter in Desert Hot Springs.

They both love spending their time with family, hosting Sabbath potlucks, and helping church members in need. They have also enjoyed various trips including Hawaii, Alaska, and Georgia. Chris has special memories of the mission trip she took with the Vancouver church to India.
