Sometimes mission fields can be found right here in the United States. For the second year in a row, a group from the Village Church in Berrien Springs, Mich., chose to make the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Poplar, Mont., their focus.
Community service projects from last year have borne fruit in cleaner yards and community grounds this year. Visits to the jails last year have given open doors to this year's group.
This July the group was able to replace three windows and two doors in the ambulance barn as well as painting its complete office interior. Streets were cleaned up as well, but the best part was leading prisoners in the jails to Christ and seeing the joy in their faces as they were given Bibles and other literature. The group also gave away nearly 4,000 pounds of clothes they collected and brought with them. The final week was committed to a VBS with nearly 100 children. We look forward to 2010.
